Weekly progress log

Okay, on behalf of my renewed resolution of putting my butt in the not-so-comfy chair and write every day, here's the result after the second week of that regimen (for my current WIP)
This week's writing log:
I have an excuse for Friday's crappy "90": I had a sinus infection, and my head was about to explode. I'm happy that I still managed to write *something*.
It is interesting to write, no matter whether I'm inspired or not. To my surprise, I've managed to write scenes that, although the prose is crap, advance the plot. I tend to skip on descriptions and the characters' inner thoughts, but it's still better than I expected. I can always fix the prose on round #2. My aim is to finish the first draft, no matter how crap it is.

Date: 2010-09-12 11:50 pm (UTC)And I think aiming to finish the first draft is a good one, you can always slicken up exposition or plot advancement later, but there's nothing quite like doing it from the position of having a finished first draft, I think. :)

... *bows*
Anyway, I don't have discipline. That's the point. I'm trying to build it. :D This time hopefully, it will stick. I've been going at it for three weeks, good days like bad, and my schedule is busy. So there's hope. :D

Date: 2010-09-13 03:12 pm (UTC)To be fair, it's the most I've done in a concentrated amount pretty much ever, I think (except my first Nanowrimo). I have a friend who can do something like 2000+ words a day, which is just incredible to me.
Realistically, my weekly output is more like 500 words a week, averaged out in fits and starts. That's why I don't really record it, because sometimes it's like... 'this week I did, oh, nothing? Okay.' Heh.
And you seem to be doing really good with discipline! I mean writing through a sinus infection is hardcore!

Date: 2010-09-13 08:04 pm (UTC)I'd be tempted, but November is going to be too hectic for me (moving out).
About the sinus infection: I wrote these words *after* the painkillers kicked in. I don't remember what I've written. For all I know, it's in Mandarin. :-p
